12/1/2010 9:23:02 PM | Hey Anna, well let's see. When I first heard OB's first album, I have to say it surprised me how different it was from MB. I had to play it a few times to fully intake the diversity of sounds and styles at first. But I fell in love right away with "Take a vacation" and my favorite, the ."Freedom song". "everything matters" is also very significant to me. There's something very rich, very grounded and lyrically sound about this album, although it's easy to just let go and get caught up in the reggae wave of it. Orrin is definitely his own person and puts his stamp right on that one. Well there you go sweetie, take care. It's good to be here! :D Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada | anna
12/2/2010 7:22:17 PM | Hi Sylvie,
It's great to see you made it here! I loved "Take A Vacation" as soon as I heard Orrin sing it on Oprah!I was tickled pink that it wound up on the album!

12/3/2010 9:46:00 AM | Hi Anna, uhm, sorry sweetie, but Orrin sang "Please come home" on Oprah. :D Well, they're both reggae-style! The first time I wrote to Orrin, I told him I enjoyed his performance on Oprah and thought it was sweet that he was nervous and not like:"look at me, I'm MB's brother!". He told me why he was nervous and. you know, I'll try and see if I can easily start another discussion and if not, I'll post the story here. Take care Anna. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada | sylvie
12/3/2010 10:06:24 AM | Hi again Anna, I hate to tell you this sweetie but starting a new discussion? Yikes! I especially like the bit about direction of the page and the color. :D So anyway, About the Oprah performance, Orrin told me , to make matters even funnier, after he and MB were dropped off at the studio, the driver took his lunch break but still had OB's guitar in the trunk of the car and it wasn't discovered untill a few minutes before he was to go on! Can you imagine? Anyway, I thought it would be cool if there was a section where we could put any OB related story, whether it's related to him or his music. It's just a thought. Oh and could we have a message board like on your old site too? Take care Anna. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada | anna
12/3/2010 2:28:41 PM | Well, duh! You're so right about the song that OB sang on Oprah! I don't know where my brain is! Orrin told me the story about his performance there, too. He said that because everything was so 'last minute' he was quite nervoud. I assured him that his performance was great! I love that song!

12/3/2010 2:30:07 PM | Oops....evidently, typing is not good today either!! The word above should be "nervous" NOT nervoud!! | sylvie
12/3/2010 7:55:08 PM | Hey Anna, don't worry, you had the right word: "Nervoud" is an extra degree of nervous! lol I really wonder how Oprah managed to convince Orrin to be on the show, do you know Anna? Just checking. Take care sweetie. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada | anna
9/4/2011 12:47:13 PM | "Hunter" lyrics
It's a matter of fact, Any place you could name, That the worth of a man, Is the weight of his game.
See the good man lose all, For a whim of the heart, How the wicked men rise, Lies! In the dark. Now, you can live and forgive, A man and his debt.
But there's one thing, my friend, You must never forget,
(Chorus) Men are weak and life is cheap, What you love, You fight to keep, Don't give up, You dig down deep, For the heart, and the soul, Of the hunter.
They will win you, They will spin you, From morning till night, You must live for the risk, And love of the fight. And it's a matter of fact, So, I must confess, If I'd written my life, I'd of settled for less. But, we were born to this fight, Just lucky I guess.
So, there's one think, My friend, I say, Be good, but never forget.
(Chorus) It's a story old as ages, Men wait for their reward, But dress like man, barbarian, Hunt the lion in lion skin, Know the ways of The water hole, Know the place where The high grass grow, He know the truth, when the Four winds blow, He knows. (chorus) | | |
